Daylight Thievery

I awoke to find the morning taken,

plunged back into winter, so close to spring;

the full moon perching on the sky,

veiled in clouds, lofty and aloof.

I had to leave home, alone and cold,

headlights clearing just enough space

to pass—on time—through the darkness.

Who stole my sunshine and gave it to the night???

A crime!

… but not so very great a crime.

You have been pardoned death-worthy sins.

Be patient then, and let the days go by.

Soon, the dawn will shine on time again.
